Common questions

What is Consent Mode v2 and do I need it?
Consent Mode v2 is Google's framework for adjusting how its tags behave based on a user's consent choices. If you run Google Ads or GA4 and have EEA or UK visitors, you need it. Without valid consent signals, Google degrades or stops conversion tracking and remarketing for that traffic.
What happens if I don't implement Consent Mode v2?
For EEA and UK traffic, you lose conversion data and the ability to build remarketing audiences in Google Ads, which quietly weakens campaign performance. Implemented correctly, it recovers modelled conversions and keeps your measurement and media working.
Does a cookie banner destroy my analytics data?
It does not have to. With Consent Mode and proper modelling, Google fills gaps from users who decline, so you keep a usable, compliant picture. The damage comes from banners that block tags entirely or are wired up incorrectly, which is what I fix.
What is the difference between GDPR compliance and Consent Mode?
GDPR and the UK equivalent are the law; Consent Mode is how Google's tools respect a user's choice technically. You need both: a compliant consent banner for the legal side, and Consent Mode v2 wired into GTM so your measurement reflects those choices.
